Throughout history illustrations have accompanied the written word, starting with the ancient tradition of illuminated letters associated with scripts hand  Creating art is often used to represent text in stories, poems, business names, etc. For this project you will be illustrating the word that is most connected to your being – your name.

Block A –             Start date: August 4th, 2015                                                                         Due date: August 18th, 2015

Blocks E & G –   Start date: August 5th, 2015                                                                         Due date: August 17th, 2015

 

Prompt: Create an illustrated version of your name.

Details: Must include your name clearly (Can be English name or Myanmar name). Must include illustration (drawing) not just logo style, that connects to your personal life.

Materials: Your choice from the dry drawing materials offered to you in class (pencil, pen, permanent marker, markers, colored pencils). One 11x14 white drawing paper will be provided.

Expectations:

·         Brainstorming sheet

·         Name is clearly stated

·         Unique and original design

·         Illustration connects to the artist

·         Page is used fully

·         Materials are used appropriately

·         Finished and complete for beginning of class on the day it is due

Steps

1.       Research Illustrated words/text

2.       Brainstorm ideas for your own unique name using a mindmap or thumbnail sketches or another method (make sure this is saved, it will be collected)

3.       Make a few sketches (quick drawings) of your idea – try to change composition or style

4.       Choose the best sketch and begin creating your final piece

5.       Use class time to finish your final piece

6.       Have ready for the due date.
