Emotional Principles AP 2D Design
Due Date: October 1st, 2015 (start of class)
Objective:
In this project you will show your understanding of the Principles of Design and your mastery of camera settings by creating a series of photographs relating to a single emotion.
Explanation:
Now that our Camera Basics unit is complete you will need to demonstrate your mastery of your camera in a series of photographs. You will be capturing a series of photographs where you should show complete control over your camera and your knowledge of how to take accurate photographs in difficult situations.
This series will be based on a single emotion of your choosing. I request that you choose a unique emotion (humble, nervous, euphoric) rather than the basic ones (happy, sad, mad) for a more interesting project. See emotion list for ideas. A person is a great source of emotion but I urge you to stretch further and see if you can create emotional images without using a human figure. If you do use a person be sure to use them in interesting and unique compositions.
Lastly, your series will be showing each principle of design:
Unity/Harmony, Variety, Balance, Emphasis, Contrast,
Rhythm/Movement, Repetition/Pattern, Proportion/Scale
Your completed series must have one artwork for each principle. This artwork must be easily identifiable as the example of that principle.
Requirements:
· 8 final artworks
· High craftspersonship (finished, edited pieces)
· Each piece showing a principle of design
· All pieces representing one unique emotion
· Strong photography skills demonstrated
· Separate webpage for this project
· Written artist statement
Media:
Photography based. Editing is encouraged. Manipulation can be used if desired.
